This is the one of three office fit out projects completed on behalf of a blue chip banking corporation.

The new scheme involved a new electrical layout to suit the new office plan and computer equipment.

Additional facilities were provided for meeting/training rooms, and a corporate colour scheme for wall and floor finishing.

The works comprised the fit out of Unit 40 the Boardwalk, Port Solent, for use as a Chinese restaurant. Fit out works were carried out to the shell unit, a first floor unit with terrace and view over the Marina, located above the main entrance to the Boardwalk complex. The unit has the advantage of being in a prominent location with facades facing the Marina to the north and the steps leading to the main entrance of the Boardwalk complex to the south.

The aim was to create a vibrant space, which made the best use of views over the Marina, and the prominent location.

The client wanted a flexible interior which could be used to display artworks, but which stood out from the other restaurants in the complex and provided a unique experience for customers. The restaurant may also need to be adapted for different functions such as Chinese New year, catering for big groups, and providing a more intimate environment for smaller groups.The restaurant area was therefore conceived as a white box with bar and WC's as bright focal points within this space. Vibrancy and flexibility were added to the space with a lighting system which includes coloured downlighters delineating routes through the restaurant, spot lights to create pools of light and intimate spaces, and coloured lighting which provides washes of colour over surfaces and presents an enticing interior for visitors arriving to the Boardwalk complex at night.

As the area is quite large it was important that the design allowed the space to be conceived as different zones with focal points to create both vibrant and intimate spaces.
